Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR)

Core Partner

IJR is the Core partner in Southern Africa and the National Partner in South Africa for Afrobarometer.

The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) was launched in the year 2000, in the wake of the public hearings of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Today, the IJR works towards its broadened vision of building fair, inclusive, democratic and peaceful societies in Africa, and increasingly further abroad, by designing relevant and carefully crafted interventions that combine research, dialogue, capacity-building, advocacy, policy advice and implementation support. the IJR pursues this vision at the global, continental, regional and national levels.

As an Afrobarometer core partner, IJR oversees survey and communications activities for national partners in Southern Africa. This region covers Botswana, Eswatini Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

As the national partner for South Africa IJR conducts the Afrobarometer survey and disseminates results.
