The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) is Afrobarometer’s Core Partner for Southern Africa and National Partner for South Africa.
IJR was launched in 2000 in the wake of public hearings of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Today IJR works toward its broadened vision of building fair, inclusive, democratic, and peaceful societies by designing relevant and carefully crafted interventions that combine research, dialogue, capacity building, advocacy, policy advice, and implementation support. IJR pursues this vision at the global, continental, regional, and national levels.
As an Afrobarometer Core Partner, IJR oversees survey and communications activities for national partners in Southern Africa. This region covers Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
As the National Partner for South Africa, IJR conducts the Afrobarometer survey and disseminates results.
