Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche en Géosciences Politiques et Prospective (CERGEP) is the national partner in Gabon.
Created on May 14, 1993, Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche en Géosciences Politiques et Prospective (CERGEP) is the centre of the Geography Department of the Omar Bongo University (UOB) of Libreville. The CERGEP team is made up of 28 Teacher-Researchers and Associate Researchers, as well as students, enrolled in doctorates and masters.
Research at CERGEP is organized around the following three areas:
- Political Geosciences
- The Human Sciences of the Sea
- Socio-demography
CERGEP has a publication organ, the review GABONICA. Revue Gabonaise des Géosciences Politiques, which appears once a year and publishes articles, chronicles and reading notes in the fields of political geosciences (political geography, geopolitics, geostrategy, geoeconomics) and international relations. Priority is given to studies on Gabon, Central Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa in general. Reflections on the relationship that the African continent maintains with the rest of the world are particularly appreciated. CERGEP also has a documentation centre.
