Afrobarometer’s summer school program equips African scholars with solid data collection and analysis skills. The curriculum focuses on research design, survey methodology, and analysis and use of public attitude data on democracy, corruption, taxpayer compliance, and other areas.
The free training program provides a rare opportunity for African researchers in government and non-governmental organisations, policy actors, and postgraduate students to hone their skills in data analysis and use. Participants also receive instruction in theories and practices of public opinion survey research on democracy, governance, and related topics. Their work draws on more than two decades of survey data collected by Afrobarometer across the African continent.
In August 2022, Afrobarometer in partnership with the Faculty of Economics and Management (FASEG) of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar launched the sixth edition of its French-language summer school. In November 2022, Afrobarometer conducted 12th English-language summer school in partnership with Future Africa at the University of Pretoria.
