Has poverty decreased or increased in African countries? What might be driving these trends?
Afrobarometer will answer these questions on Friday, 21 January, with the release of new survey findings based on more than 52,700 interviews in 35 African countries. The new continental statistics on poverty will be particularly useful to governments, development partners, and activists for sustainable development, as well as news media.
This will be the third of Afrobarometer’s global releases of new data from its Round 6 surveys in 2014-2015. The first two focused on citizens’ top priorities and on infrastructure development.
Presentation of the survey findings, during the 6th Citizens’ Continental Conference in Addis Ababa, will be followed by publication of the report.
