Job announcement: Resource Mobilization Coordinator

Role Overview

The Engagement Unit, established in 2019, plays a critical role in the success and sustainability of the AB network. There are two teams in the unit: Communications and Resource Mobilization (RM). The latter is a new team, responsible for forging partnerships built on trust and mutual accountability and for attracting philanthropic contributions to support AB’s goals. The Director of Engagement (DoE) is a highly experienced professional fundraiser who leads on fundraising for AB. The RM Coordinator is the first dedicated fundraising role to be hired into the team, so will support all aspects of the RM team’s work as directed by the DoE. As the team expands with fundraising success, there will be an opportunity for growth.

The Resource Mobilization team commits itself to:

• Taking a modern, professional African approach to fundraising
• Developing a robust and compelling Case for Support
• Growing the pool of current and potential funders
• Increasing the number and value of grants to enable AB’s sustainability
• Delivering competent funding proposals to achieve AB’s aims and objectives
• Effectively stewarding and communicating with funders
• Ensuring rigorous grant management
• Coordinating fundraising across the wider AB network
• Adhering to both AB fundraising policies and guidelines and global fundraising regulations

Main Duties and Responsibilities

A. Core Function 1 – Donor/prospect research and information management

• Competent grasp of AB’s funding requirements
• Donor/prospect research, both proactive and reactive, in line with AB’s plans
• Manage and update AB’s donor database/CRM system
• Collate management information related to funders/prospects
• Maintain and update AB’s key contacts list
• Maintain current portfolio of organization and project information to facilitate funding proposals and to ensure consistency
• Support the Director of Engagement in the development of funding proposals

B. Core Function 2 – Resource mobilization support and coordination

• Arrange and coordinate meetings with donors and other key stakeholders (face-to-face or virtual)
• Assist with donor communications and stewardship
• Provide correct materials for fundraising meetings
• Minute meetings with funders, key stakeholders, advocates
• Organize national and international development roundtable meetings
• Correspond on behalf of the Director of Engagement, where appropriate
• Any other tasks for resource mobilization activities as discussed and agreed with the Director of Engagement
