The Covid-19 pandemic significantly interrupted the 8th Round of our Surveys. Midway through, we had to suspend fieldwork for about 6 months. But we quickly adapted and adjusted our fieldwork protocols and successfully:
- Completed Round 8 (R8) surveys despite the countless complications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Developed and implemented a COVID-19 module in 16 of the 34 R8 countries.
- Conducted virtual R8 debrief and R9 planning meetings for all national partners.
- Disseminated R8 results in all 34 countries (mostly virtually).
- Undertook a series of multi-country trips for the incoming CEO to present his vision.
- Developed and disseminated SDG scorecards that gained global attention.
- Released a series of Pan-Africa Profiles on high-impact R8 findings.
- Enhanced our rapid-response survey techniques, especially on governance issues.
- Laid the foundations for an enhanced capacity building program.
- Finalised the R9 questionnaire with special modules on COVID-19, climate change, and other topics.
- Piloted and commenced R9 surveys.
- Established new funding partnerships and secured robust funding for R9 surveys.
