The Afrobarometer Research Partner in South Africa, Plus 94 Research, interviewed a nationally representative, random, stratified probability sample of 2400 adult South Africans between 13 August 2015 and 21 September 2015. A sample of this size yields results with a margin of error of +/-2% at a 95% confidence level. Previous surveys have been conducted in South Africa in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2011. The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) provided technical backstopping for the survey.
