Biography

Maame Akua Amoah Twum is the communications manager at Afrobarometer, where she works closely with the director of communications to amplify the organisation’s pan-African research through compelling storytelling, dynamic media engagement, and high-impact visibility campaigns. In this role, she works to position Afrobarometer as the go-to source for reliable data on African public opinion, crafting narratives that connect evidence to policy and elevate citizen voices in decision-making spaces across the continent and globally. She also plays a key role in driving digital engagement, managing media partnerships, and strengthening internal communications across Afrobarometer’s network.

She previously served as communications coordinator for North and Anglophone West Africa at Afrobarometer, based at the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana). In that role, she led communication activities across Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Liberia, Tunisia, Algeria, Cabo Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe, supporting national partners with strategic dissemination, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining Afrobarometer, Maame Akua worked as assistant manager, communications at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited (TCCBCGL), part of one of the world’s leading beverage corporations. She also served as senior corporate affairs executive at NDK Financial Services Limited, where she managed media relations, corporate communications, digital platforms, and stakeholder engagement.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon.
