Erick Murithi is Afrobarometer's data quality officer for East Africa

Erick is an experienced quantitative researcher with over 8 years of experience working on data in multiple sectors. He is enthusiastic and passionate about data management, especially the conversion of answers to survey questions to good quality data that can be used to make informed decisions.

Previously, he worked as an assistant research officer at KEMRI-WELLCOME TRUST, a data analyst at MERDA – Kenya, and a consultant at JHPIEGO, all dealing with large data. In most of these assignments, he was responsible for programming/mapping survey questionnaires into electronic data capture platforms (e.g. Red-Cap, CS-Entry, ODK), monitoring data collection, data cleaning and analysis. Before AB switched to EDC, he participated in data entry and collection.

He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Economics and communication from University of Nairobi and currently pursuing a Master’s of science degree in Social Statistics in the same institution. He brings on board an eye for detail and hope to learn a lot from the very experienced Afrobarometer team while at it.
