Bruno is the director of engagement at Afrobarometer
Bruno van Dyk, an international leader in resource mobilization and development, joined the network as director of engagement in 2019, assuming oversight responsibilities for fundraising, external relations, and communications.
Bruno brings more than 25 years of experience in resource mobilization, university advancement, and international collaboration to the network. During this time, he developed and implemented major university fundraising endeavours in South Africa and the UK, exceeding targets in income and alumni engagement.
A native of South Africa, Bruno has been an active and committed participant in and advocate for African development. He has served as a primary volunteer in sub-Saharan Africa for several international organizations, and has been and remains chair and ordinary member of a number of organizations that have a focus both on Africa and globally.
For five years he was a teaching fellow with the University of Bologna’s Master’s in International Studies in Philanthropy and Social Innovation program and has contributed to current debates by presenting and facilitating at over 30 conferences. He has two master’s degrees, in English literature and commerce respectively; a higher diploma in education; a diploma in teaching English as a foreign language; and two certificates in managing partnerships and strategic alliances from INSEAD and in “storytelling for change” from +Acumen, New York.
