The Millennium Development Goals expire this year. Member states, including South Africa will meet in New York from the 25-27 September to adopt the post-2015 development agenda. This roundtable discussion is a platform for civil society, researchers, and individuals working to advance the socio-economic development of youth in South Africa.

Participants will engage in critical dialogue to reflect on South Africa’s role in advancing the position of youth within the new global development agenda. This dialogue will also discuss the extent to which domestic instruments such as The National Youth Policy 2015 – 2020 can be integrated within this agenda to drive change internally.

An important outcome of this roundtable is to formulate concrete actions which will be followed by a briefing paper to be submitted to the South African government ahead of the UN Summit.
