Afrobarometer is pleased to announce that Ousmane Djiby Sambou and Simon Templer Kodiaga have joined the team as regional communications coordinators.
Ousmane (osambou@afrobarometer.org), who supports francophone countries and is based at CDD-Ghana, is passionate about advocacy and citizen mobilization for inclusive development and good governance.
Ousmane holds a master’s degree in governance and regional integration from Pan-African University and a bachelor’s degree in English and anglophone literature.
Professionally, he has worked for national, regional, and international organizations in a variety of positions: advocacy and communications specialist, program coordinator, partnership specialist, community mobilizer, and researcher. He served the Partnership, Policy and Communications Unit at the United Nations Capital Development Fund, where he played communications and coordination roles for the West and Central Africa regional office. He co-led advocacy work for youth empowerment on behalf of the Network of African Youth for Development in Senegal in 2018 and graduated as a fellow of the Next Generation Leadership Program of the West Africa Civil Society Institute in policy influencing and advocacy. He also participated in a number of research and community mobilization projects.
Ousmane loves the cinema and the arts and enjoys travel, political debates, and football.
Simon (skodiaga@afrobarometer.org), who supports East African partners and is based at the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi, is a development communications and public relations specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies from the University of Nairobi and is pursuing a master’s degree in communication studies.
Simon has more than eight years of working experience in development communications, media campaigns/advocacy, women’s and children’s rights, research and learning, media advocacy, and monitoring.
Before joining Afrobarometer, he worked for a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the BBC World Service, Contact Network International, Water Sector Trust Fund, EMC Consultants, European Union, and Federation of Women Lawyers.
