Newton Yaw Norviewu joins as new monitoring, evaluation, and learning specialist

Afrobarometer is happy to announce that Newton Yaw Norviewu will be joining us as the network’s new monitoring, evaluation, and learning specialist. He begins his journey with us on Monday, 11 October 2021.

Newton will be based at the Afrobarometer Secretariat in Accra, Ghana, and will work closely with Chief Operating Officer Felix Biga and Director of Analysis Carolyn Logan in leading all monitoring and evaluation processes to scale our impact.

Newton comes to us with more than eight years of experience, having worked with CDD-Ghana, the World Bank Group, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). His recent accomplishments include co-leading the development of a medium-term strategic plan for CDD-Ghana and subsequently developing a results-based monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework for assessing the organization’s progress toward its overall goal and impact in Ghana and Africa. 

Newton is an alumnus of the Australia Awards-Africa. He holds a master’s degree in public and social policy from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and a BSc. in mathematical science (statistics option) from the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana. He has expertise in policymaking and policy analysis and the application of statistical principles in designing and conducting research and evaluation. He is also adept at using statistical packages including SPSS, R, SAS, Microsoft Excel, and qualitative data analysis tools such as NVivo.
